1401 Coffee’s International Expansion, First Stop: Düsseldorf!

1401 Coffee, one of Turkey’s new generation coffee and gastronomy brands, has taken the first step in its international growth strategy. 1401 Coffee is preparing to open its first branch in Düsseldorf, Germany, marking the beginning of its global journey. Having reached over 20 branches across Turkey in a short time, 1401 Coffee is progressing towards its goal of reaching 200 branches within five years.

Having entered the coffee sector by opening its first store in Istanbul in 2022, 1401 Coffee is now operating in 20 branches across Turkey thanks to the growth momentum it has achieved in a short time. Aiming to reach 25 branches by the end of 2025, 1401 Coffee is shaping its domestic and international growth by maintaining its brand identity and offering unique experiences in each market it enters.

Planning to concentrate its growth in Turkey in strategic locations such as Istanbul, Çanakkale, and the Aegean Region, 1401 Coffee is pursuing its international strategy with a controlled and selective approach. In this context, the brand’s first international branch will open in Düsseldorf in November, and preparations are underway for new locations in Europe, primarily Berlin and Cologne, in the short term.

“We See Coffee as a Culture”

Bülent Özgür Kılıç, founder of 1401 Coffee, summarized the brand’s growth strategy and future goals with the following words, explaining 1401 Coffee’s goal of becoming a major player in the global coffee market as a brand born in Turkey and the sustainable growth plans it is pursuing in this direction: “Our goal is to be a global brand that brings coffee culture from Turkey to the world, where people come together, find inspiration, and experience new things.” Kılıç shared his vision for the brand’s global journey with its international move in Düsseldorf: “We particularly prioritize establishing a presence in areas with a high concentration of Turkish population. We took our first step in Germany in Düsseldorf, and we are continuing our negotiations for Berlin and Cologne in the short term. As a local and original brand, we aim to proudly represent our country in every market we are in while bringing Turkey’s coffee culture to the world stage.”

From Cultural Experience to Global Journey

Emphasizing that 1401 Coffee’s fundamental philosophy is to transform coffee into a cultural experience, Kılıç concluded his remarks by saying, “We see coffee not just as a beverage, but as a cultural experience that brings people together. When we founded 1401 Coffee, our goal was not just to sell coffee, but to create unique spaces where people could meet, socialize, and feel good. We quickly reached 20 branches in Turkey. To bring this success to international markets, we have also established a comprehensive roadmap for our overseas investments.”
